The delightful gardens here are tropical, lush and peaceful. The beautiful bromeliads, fruit trees , anthuriums, lilies, and ferns blend in with the mountain backdrop. Numerous trails take admirers throughout the vestiges of the old coffee estate Historical records indicate that at one time over 400 species of ferns could be found on the grounds of the Cold Spring estate.
The original owner, Matthew Wallen, introduced exotic plant species from across the Atlantic including tea tree, watercress, apple and peach trees, strawberries, dandelion, bamboo and oriental plants. Many medicinal plants grow on the estate today.
